Elyssa’s Mission offers postvention training and hands-on support to our partnering schools to ensure that they have proper systems in place following the unfortunate event of a suicide. Postvention is an organized immediate, short-term, and long-term response to a suicide, and its goals include promoting healing among students, staff, and parents, and minimizing its potential negative effects on school communities.
Elyssa’s Mission partnered with Jonathan Singer, Ph.D., leading expert in the field of suicide prevention and postvention and member of the Elyssa’s Mission Advisory Board, to launch a *video series covering foundational protocols schools should have in place before a student suicide should occur. Our series addresses five components that are vital to a school’s postvention practices. To gain access to the videos and/or work with Elyssa’s Mission on your school’s protocols, complete our form below
*This project was made possible through our partnership with DuPage High School District 88, specifically their generous dissemination of grant funds from the Illinois Department of Health to help students, schools and their communities manage the aftermath of a student suicide.
